Mobile USO
Throughout its history, the USO has served our troops at traditional,
brick and mortar facilities. In 2007, the USO started taking its
services on the road, out to the troops, with Mobile USO's. This “USO
on wheels” is designed to support troops serving in locations without a USO center.
The Mobile USO provides a comfortable place for men and women in uniform to relax and enjoy free food like flapjacks. Our Mobile USO offers a laptop, a large screen television, and X-box gaming system. Contact us for more information at okinawaprograms@uso.org. Operation Birthday Cake

United Through Reading Military Program
_The hardest hit members of a military family are often the youngest.
Day-to-day life without a parent can be sad and confusing. So imagine
the thrill on a child’s face when he or she sees and hears a bedtime
story read by mom or dad. The USO partnership with United Through
Reading® allows our deployed troops the ability to read their kids a
bedtime book and virtually be there, even when they can’t be there
in-person. Service men and women simply read a book aloud while
being recorded on DVD for their child. The DVD is mailed to the child
and family back home. All recording equipment, books, packing and
shipping materials are supplied by the USO.
United Through Reading®, a California-based nonprofit organization, has served over one million beneficiaries since1990. Since partnering with the USO in 2006, more than 100,000 books have been read at USOs worldwide, recorded, and enjoyed by families. Contact us for more information at 645-1827 or okinawaprograms@uso.org. Operation USO Care Package
Anyone who's ever been away from home for long periods of time can
relate to the excitement and joy of receiving a Care Package. And the
USO takes great pride in extending that touch of home to troops deployed
overseas. It creates an instant connection between the troops, home and
the citizens they serve. The USO receives thank you notes from troops
all over the world recounting the morale boost a Care Package provides.
A $25 donation sponsors one USO care package. Care package items are purchased directly from or donated by the manufacturer. Your monetary donations are used to purchase these items. The USO works closely with the Department of Defense to distribute packages. USO Photo Book
The USO and RocketLife, inventor of award-winning new media
technologies, have partnered to deliver a heart-warming opportunity for
the men and women of the armed forces and their families. The USO
Photo Book program enables friends and family to create and send a photo
book to any service member stationed abroad – for free. To get started,
visit http://USO.RocketLifeProduction.com and enter a valid APO/FPO/MPO address. RocketLife will then email a discount code and a link to launch its photo book software.
These full-color, customized photo books are small enough to fit in a soldier's cargo pocket yet can hold more than 60 photos of loved ones. RocketLife prints the books for free and the USO pays for shipping. Any additional purchases through the site benefit the work of the USO. Even More Programs...
